Yellow Throated Warbler

This charming Yellow-throated warbler makes its way to breeding grounds ahead of the leafing trees, often staying aloft in the upper canopy. Its distinctive features include a vivid yellow throat and chest contrasted with bold black markings, a striking black-and-white facial pattern, and a soothing blue-gray back, making it easily recognizable once sighted.

Historically, the Yellow-throated Warbler built its nests across a diverse range of southern forest habitats extending as far north as southern Michigan. After retreating during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the breeding populations of Yellow-throated warblers have been steadily reclaiming northern territories since the 1940s.
