Western Spindalis

Description

The Western Spindalis can be found across the Caribbean but rarely graces the mainland. It is a rare visitor to southern Florida.

About the size of a robin, the male’s striking appearance is characterized by a pronounced facial pattern, a tawny chest, and a back adorned in either black or olive hues, accentuated by broad white wing edgings. In this collage, I chose to accentuate this coloring by using a vibrant, abstract, stenciled Gelli print as if he were dressing up for the day.
