European Robin

There’s an ineffable charm to the European robin’s demeanor — the way it cocks its head as if pondering the mysteries of the world, or how it bravely defends its territory with a spirit that belies its small stature. In this hand-painted paper collage, I retained the checkered pattern of Gelli print as if this cheerful fellow were greeting the world in his fancy pants.

The European robin (Erithacus rubecula), known simply as the robin or robin redbreast in Great Britain and Ireland. The robin is one of the most familiar birds in the British landscape and is referred to in Shakespeare’s plays three times.

Truly, the European Robin is more than just a bird; it embodies a spirit of resilience, companionship, and a touch of magic that brightens the landscapes it graces. In folklore, it’s often associated with good fortune and joy, a symbol that reminds us to find beauty in the smallest of creatures and to cherish the wonders of the natural world.

While the original sold quickly, these 12-color fine art prints on archival paper show the texture of the original collaged papers with remarkable depth. Blank 5"x5" card with original art
